Rules of Play

The U6, U8, and U10 divisions are playing smaller sided games.

The U6 division are playing 3v3 with no goalies.
The U8 division are playing 4v4 with no goalies.
The U10 division are playing 6v6 which includes goalies.

The purpose of smaller sided games is to give the kids more playing time with fewer players on the field.  This should result with more touches of the ball.  The only way to get better is to touch the ball as often as possible.  In the U6 and U8 divisions, coaches and parents should not be concerned with winning and losing.  They should be more concerned about the development and education of the kids as soccer players, team players, and young children learning to get along.  Coaches need to teach the kids the game of soccer which includes the rules of the game, kicking, passing, etc.

The U10 division is where winning starts to become a factor.  Winning is not the way to judge a coach or a good season.  If all the players are better at the end of the season and they play as a team, then you’ve had a good season.  Everyone likes to win, but few can win all the time.  Teach your children how to be modest winners and gracious losers.

Coaches and parents, please read RSC’s Constitution, RSC's General Rules, and the rules for your child’s age division.  These local rules and FIFA’s rules are how we run our league.  Please become familiar with them.
Thank you.
